i told a friend of mine i would knit him a hat...about a year ago, ah!!! well i finally made it :) its kind of hard to see the detail, but there are some really nice cables, kind of a pain to do (especially on the train) but i think it looks pretty good.

i hope it fits him! it fits me great, but i have a huge melon head...and a case of the mondays.

tonight was our work holiday party and there were two secret santas going, one with the peeps that work the front desk and one with the teachers...and as a manager i don't really fit either, so i did both! lol

first up we have annemarie, i knit her the orange cowl and i think she liked it! :)

and remember how i knit that calorimetry, well i lost it somewhere in my disaster of an apartment! :( lucky for me i have a stockpile of knitted goods. so i picked out a cowl instead. here is tonya striking a pose in her new gift. i also got her those slippers...did not knit them but i bet i could! ;)

my co-manager alejandra did the sweetest thing ever! she knit me some adorable bracelets and i absolutely love them. as a knitter, i never receive handknit gifts and i really loved that she did this for me. <3

also, during all the party craziness i took a little knitting break in one of the asana rooms...knitting is the new yoga. ;)

here is my final secret santa gift! the past couple times i've knit calorimetry its been so huge, and i have a big head so that's saying something! i tried to make this one smaller as the recipient has a pretty small head...and i think i might have made it too small?! it will still keep her ears warm though, so i guess thats ok.

i cast-on 88 which worked out great, but i only did 7 repeats on each side, i think next time i'll do about 10 or so (yes, there will be a next time!)

i WILL get this pattern perfect! :)

this is some yarn i had left over from my oatmeal sweater, and luckily the person i drew said she loved being warm and the color orange! it was meant to be. :)

i don't think i made the cowl as 'long' as i was supposed to, but i think it fits really well. i wouldn't want it to be toooooooooo bunchy.

i hope she likes it!

last night i had a lovely secret santa with some friends, and i totally made out like a bandit! this is just one of three secret santas i am participating in :) hehe.

i picked my friend harry, whom we so lovingly refer to as chicken harry. so of course i knew i had to knit him a little chicken, i also got him some yoga books and a mala he wanted. i think he REALLY liked the chicken. ;)

i got the perfect gift! knitpicks yarn, starbucks gift card and a travel roll-on of the perfume i wear. i mean, can you say lucky?! of course i had to smell the yarn as soon as i got it lol....

oatmeal is done! woooooooooo! i wasn't sure this would fit (because i have a very bad habit of never doing a gauge swatch, oops), but it worked out. i love top down because you can try it on as you go, even though i usually drop a few stitches every time i do that :) hehe

i ended up having a skein and a half extra, better too much than not enough though! i think im going to make a nice bulky hat with the extra...i'm about due for another hat anyways ;)

this pattern was a piece of cake, great commute knitting. seems like i will be wearing handknits all winter...awww yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah

my friend kristin learned to knit a while ago, but put it down and mostly sews now. lately she's been coming over for some knit nights and she just finished her first cowl! she wanted it to have some imperfections so she'd put holes here and there and add stitches, etc...i think it turned out great.

she rides a bike everyday to work (and everywhere) so this will be perfect for this winter.

i love seeing her so excited about her new knitting skills! :)

this is one warm sweater! its the first time i've knit a hood on a sweater and i love it, i might remove the ears for everyday wear but im not sure :) the pattern was great, really fast and easy.

the crown was probably the hardest part! i went up a needle size because i have a huge melon head and i got exactly the length (before felting) that i was supposed to, and after felting it barely changed length at all! so weird. so i ended up cutting off 3 of the points and it fit like a glove :) and felting by hand is no joke, my arms were burning. hehe

also had a few hiccups with lining up the shoulder seam, but i blame that on my finishing skills.

i can now let the wild rumpus begin!

i love this shrug so much!!! its so my style, kinda shapeless, slouchy, and cozy. it did feel like the stockinette would never end though. i ended up knitting to 37 inches instead of 42 because i just couldn't take it anymore. and i was willing to live with the consequences! :)

i want to try to make another one of these but with bulky yarn so it goes faster....we shall see!

so these didnt turn out quite as planned. i dont hate them....but there is definitely room for improvement. the pattern is really clear and pretty easy, but this is definitely a case where i should have altered the pattern more to my body. i should have done less shorts rows in the behind because its a little baggy, and a little wide on the sides.

i also think they would be better in a different color, this neon shows EVERYTHING! good thing i planned on these being lounging/pj shorts. :)

finally done! wahoooooooooooooo! i've never really made something like this before, shawls are no joke! blocking it took up almost all the floor space in my tiny studio :) hehe.

the color is so vibrant, i really love how this turned out. and its one of those pieces that people can't believe was handmade. makes me so proud! :)

i had just enough yarn to finish, actually a little less. i had to make the garter stitch border 2 rows instead of 5 because i was cutting it so close.

call me crazy, but im really into having a pair of knitted shorts right now! :) i started a plain stockinette pair and its a surprisingly fast and easy pattern.

after seeing that i was making shorts, a friend of mine sent me a link to these shorts:

theyre so cute! and they retail for $153 (!!!). its kind of fun figuring out how they were made by just looking at them. if im able to pull these off i will be really impressed with myself. :)

i recently got it in my head that i need a really long scarf with fringe for this fall. i usually wear a cowl, but its time i kick it old school! i honestly dont know if i have ever knit myself a scarf before, i never really wanted to because they can get kind of boring and usually take a long time...for me at least. i knit this one almost everyday on the subway so it was a really quick knit.

i am in love with this color! and knitpicks is discontinuing it so i wanted to snatch some up before it was all gone. i cant wait for the weather to cool off so i can wear this beauty :)

i wasn't really sure how this was going to turn out, i was worried it might be a little too shapeless. but i think it works! it doesn't go over my shoulders as much as i'd like, but i really like how baggy it is....very cute! i like the color alot too, any color i can get into my wardrobe besides black is a good thing :)

now for the story of my toes! not for the squeamish!!!!!! :)

you might be wondering how i all of a sudden have had all this time to knit! well a couple fridays ago i had an accident at work. we are doing construction and i was carrying some cardboard boxes to be thrown out and i bumped a radiator cover that wasn't attached to the ground or wall and it fell on my right foot.

my first thought was 'of course! there is always something falling on me!' but then i looked down and saw blood and two of my toes were cut very badly. people came running and they all freaked out, which really freaked me out, i honestly though my toes were goners. since i've never been to a hospital or really had an accident this was SO scary.

turns out i broke (or as the dr put it 'smashed') two of my toes and have stitches in both. :( its been really hard getting around, i laid in bed for the first few days then tried to hobble around the city....but that was so exhausting. so i've been pretty much knitting non-stop with all my free time! my boss bought me yarn as a get well gift. :)

im just now starting to feel a bit better, i get my stitches out tomorrow! also, it was really weird how bruised my arm got from the iv they gave me, as you can see from the bruise below something went wrong?!

i really love how this turned out. the color changes in this yarn are really great, although its kind of annoying to knit with. the yarn is really fuzzy and gets tangled with itself very easily...but it was worth the trouble! :)

i made this as a going away present for my little friend ella who i have been babysitting recently! she is so cute and im going to really miss her. she has given me major baby fever..... uh oh... lol

im really thinking of getting a part-time gig as a babysitter since i love being with kids so much, maybe that will fix that baby fever thing i have goin on.

hey ya'll! i know its been awhile, i dont think i've had any FO's the whole month of april....ah!!! i dont know whats gotten into me.

i do have some very exciting news though...my boyfriend has stumbled upon a career in reality television! he's a bike messenger here in nyc and the travel channel has a show featuring his company and 2 others...there has only been one episode so far but i must say, besides bridezillas it is my favorite show! :)

its called Triple Rush and its on the travel channel thursdays at 10pm est. my boyfriend is dillon (aka drt) the one who gets lost and doesnt know what he's doing! i couldnt be more proud :)

i literally finished this sweater with 3 min. to spare, ah!!! but i got it done and that is all that matters :)

gregan is the niece of my lovely co-manager (what up, jim!), she just turned two and i was so happy to knit her a birthday sweater. its so great to see the final knitted product on, the sleeves are a little big...but i think she looks so cute!

overall the pattern was a little confusing, it was 15 pages long! that seemed a bit excessive for a little girl's sweater, but what do i know! im all about knitting for the little ones lately, so fast, easy and adorable!

this yarn is so soft i can't even put it into words! i bought it at the union square market, and i wasn't sure exactly how many yards i had, so i wanted to pick a pattern that i knew i would have more than enough for. :)

as you can probably tell, i love quick knits that can preferably be worn on my head!

my friend lauren said gavin uses the little paw mittens so much that he could use another pair! of course, i was happy to oblige. these little mitts take about 15 min. each and are so cute!

i added an extra green row on one of them, oops. i don't think gavin will mind though. :)

also, the adorable little tag was made by my friend kata, they are so precious i only use them for super special gifts. that is my last one though, i need to buy more! HINT HINT! ;)

this wonderful cowl was made from christmas yarn :) thanks mom! the misti alpaca is sooooooo sooooooft, its a dream to knit with.

i decided to keep knitting the cowl until i ran out of yarn, and have you ever had one those patterns that you cant really picture and you just have to believe the pattern and keep on going?

for some reason this cowl was that for me hehe. from the picture on the pattern i had no idea the cowl was wrapped around twice, i just thought it was really chunky @_@ sometimes i wonder about myself....

these are a thank you gift to my friend matt who introduced me to the apartment in which i am currently living. finding an apartment in new york is up there with some of the most stressful stuff i have dealt with, so having his help made the process totally painless.

he asked specifically for cables, he's a man who knows what he wants! this yarn is a bit scratchy, but i kind of like it...its definitely a very hardy yarn.

in more exciting news...today i got to meet and hang out with my friend's one month old baby gavin!!! you might remember gavin from such things as this post. i am sad and totally embarrassed to say that his blanket has yet to be finished! ah! i know, there is no excuse. with all the FO's ive had lately i could have at least finished his blanket!

i feel badly, but i know he'll totally appreciate it once its done. :) here he is with mom...

i have a special place in my heart for grandpa sweaters. i came across this beauty in the men's section of urban outfitters and fell in love! its really hard to get myself to buy knitted goods though when i always think 'hey! i could make that!' even though the odds of me ever doing so are very slim.

this sweater was on sale for $99 from $300 (!!!) yeah, i think i would rather attempt to make it myself.

perhaps someday if i get my sweater making skills together i can really make it. right now im working on mastering other people's patterns before i move on to actually creating my own! :)

i finally have an actual chair to sit in while i knit! weeeeeeee! my new apartment is about the size of a large shoebox, so i've been using my bed as a chair for the past couple months...until now!

i got this love seat from urban outfitters, and i am so happy with it, it definitely makes my little apartment feel more like a home. :)

super fast and easy knit. this yarn is really cozy and soft, two thumbs up! i did the 3 needle bind-off the wrong way the first time so i had a crazy seam going down the back, i debated just leaving it because ripping back makes me crazy! but i figured since i already put so much time and love into this sweater the least i could do was seam it correctly. :) im glad i did.

and of course, right when i start seaming the sides and sleeves look who gets niiiiiice and cooooozy...

i actually finished something that isn't a hat or mittens! i'm feeling so good about this. this pattern was so easy peasy and fast that i definitely think i'll be making another one. i thought i would like wearing it best with the points at my sides but i actually really like it with the points in the front and back.

for the most part this was great subway knitting, i'm conviced thats how i got it done in about a week! towards the end it got a little bulky but i made it work. :)

i was getting so impatient with the progress on my stockholm scarf, that i had to cast-on for something new! something bulky on big needles :) so, i bring you rosa's caponcho! it's a little bit cape, a little bit poncho...totally my style. i started it two days ago and look how much is done so far! thats what im talkin' about.

i think i made the cowl a little bit too long, but i'm liking how bulky it is up there. i can already tell im going to love this once its done, i already see another in my future! :)

vacation knitting

i've been in michigan the past few days enjoying some family time, and on the flight here i cast-on for a new project...the stockholm scarf! i love how big and snuggly this cowl/scarf looks, it right up my alley.

i fancy myself a relatively fast knitter, but when you have 276 stitches per round, its so hard to get much done in a sitting! i only got about an inch done on a two hour flight! ah!

this project will definitely help me to practice patience. im really likING it so far. while i've been here i bought yarn for two more similar projects. i guess i'm all about the neckwear! :)

well hello! guess who's back with a brand new hat! :)

i finished this bad boy during a storage wars marathon, i thought it was high time to replace my salmon colored hat (it was a bit stretched out)

i also thought it was would be nice to have a brand new hat to wear home to michigan! after one canceled flight, i'm schedule to fly out tonight (hopefully!) it will be nice to get some family time after my first christmas away from home! i stayed here in nyc and then we got hit by a big snow storm that meant flights were canceled left and right. and i love snow as much as the next guy, but not when it messes up my travel plans!

i have a new project that i am really excited to work on when im home and on the flight :)

nyc yarn crawl: part I

the other day my lovely friend from nebraska, sarah, let me know that the nyc yarn crawl is happening NOW! i had no idea! i have only been to about 2 of the participating stores, so its a really great excuse to hit up lots of yarn stores in the city. the scavenger hunt and raffle are also a nice incentive. i never win anything! (except i just won a free floor cleaning for the yoga studio because i filled out a building management survey...if i used up all my winning karma on that i will not be happy!)

i woke up really late today so i only made it to two stores, downtown yarns and knit-a-way. tomorrow i plan on getting up alot earlier and making it to more stores! i was kind of preoccupied trying to find the scavenger hunt apple, and about entering the raffle that i didnt really have time to browse. hopefully tomorrow i'll have more time to shop around.

after the yarn stores i headed to washington square park to knit a little...

my boss gave me the ok to sell my knitted goodies at the yoga studio this season! i am so excited. right now im just starting off with fingerless mitts, but i think i might also makes hats, scarves or cowls. it will be really cool to see my stuff on display there.

also, she asked me if i am interested in teaching a knitting workshop this december at the studio. ahhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so exciting. she already said it should be called 'the yoga of knitting' it would mainly be a knitting workshop, but maybe also tying in some yoga philosophy...i dont think it will be hard to connect the two since knitting is so meditative (except when im pulling my hair out.)
im really nervous about teaching this, but i think it would such a cool opportunity!

baby blanket in progress

i finally got the last two colors for my moderne log cabin baby blanket! i'm really liking these colors together, i wasn't expecting them to contrast so much but i think it works well.

this blanket is for a baby who is due december 16th...it might seem like a ways away but i know it will be here before my knitting and i know it!

on a side note, this sunday i'm taking a much needed break from the city and i'm going to nebraska from the 29th-6th! i'm going to my knitting group on the 1st and i can't wait. :) i haven't joined another group since that one, nothing compares! i love going back and seeing those lovely ladies.

tonight i cast-on for the muriwai bathmat (i'm on a major casting-on kick) and i'm debating whether or not to give it to my mom as part of her birthday gift next month. i feel like a bathmat might not be a very personal birthday gift....but its handknit! from the heart! i don't know, what do you think?
the bathmat is knit holding two strands together, and instead of doing one solid color...

i'm going to do these two, to give it a little pizazz! i really like the speckles of color in the cream yarn...

i only cast-on 96 sts. instead of the suggested 120...and it is still a little big, and i have a big head! i also only did 12 repeats of the 5th row (instead of 15 repeats). i got my friends at the studio to try i on also, it looks great on everyone! :) now they all want one...lucky for me it's a really quick knit.

i'm back on the knitting train in a major way. lots of projects in the works and on the to do list...weeeee!!!

ps. july 21st was mine and betty's one year anniversary! i can't believe we have been in love for a whole year already, this seems like just yesterday! i'm so glad that i adopted her, and can't wait for a long life together. :) don't mind the picture, she hates cameras...

baby yogi

one of the teachers at the yoga studio i work at is having a baby! she is due in december, so i decided to get started on my baby knitting asap...since you never know how long it might take me to finish. :)

when she went to find out if it is a boy or girl, they couldn't tell because the baby was upside down and in a weird position....total yogi baby!!!

i decided to just go with neutrals, mainly because i really wanted to get started. i'm going to make a log cabin blanket out of 4 neutral shades in the tan/cream family...i think it will be really cute.

i also plan on sewing a lining on it........scary! i will definitely be looking for help with that when the time comes.

today my good friend and yoga teacher, luke, led a workshop that was part yoga class, part tie-dyeing. it was so much fun (and so messy!) i dont think my hands will be clean for a while.

we started off with an hour of yoga and then 3 hours of tie-dying! i have a new addiction. i was really interested in how we would do this in the city. at home in michigan, we could just go outside and use the sidewalk or driveway, but here it gets a little tricky. there is really nowhere to do it outside and inside it could be a real disaster. but we put garbage bags down and went to town. i made so many things! we used the regular dye, and then also fabric spray and stencils.

i did tshirts, pillow cases and tank tops. :)

monday was the official first day of summer. could have fooled me! i've been melting since late april. anywhooooooooooos, there was a solstice celebration in times square and my boss was invited to teach a yoga class. the class was right in the middle of times square. i couldn't really picture in my head how they were going to do that. have you ever seen that place?! its sensory overload, but i went, and it was the coolest thing. hundreds of yogis getting down on their mat right at 47th and broadway.

it was interesting to just watch a whole class happen, normally i'm in it! i must say, it was pretty cool. all different kinds of people, different ages, different levels and i think everyone had a great time.

there were a ton of my friends/coworkers there helping assist the class (it's hard for one teacher to make it around to 100s of students)

so its been really warm in the city lately. well, really warm for me at least. i'm sweating in anything above 70! is it winter yet?! oh man. so i figured this would be the best time to cast-on a chunky blanket hehe. i was walking around a couple blocks away from where i work and what do i stumble upon....the lion brand store! i must say, i wasn't really a big fan of lion brand, but the store is really great. it's big, lots of great yarn, computers to find and print patterns...and ac! awww yeaaaah. so i picked up some thick & quick deciding to make myself my first knit blanket. :) i started off with 3 skein and figured i'd just buy them as i knit them up.
i knit those 3 skeins in 3 days! granted, its super and bulky and on 13's...but still.
here is the blanket so far...

here's hoping it cools off enough to finish this thing without sweating the whole way through. ;)
also, i really want to sew fabric on the back of the blanket once its done...anyone out there know how to do that, or have done it before? i think it would look really nice but have no idea how to go about doing something like that.

surprise, surprise....more socks! this cascade yarn is from the gift certificate i got for my birthday. i really love this yarn! it's not the softest yarn but its cozy and durable and will definitely keep my feet nice and warm. i want more tweed yarn! i love the little flecks.

after these socks i cast-on with some fingering weight yarn and sz. 1 needles....they feel like toothpicks! i feel like they are going to snap at any second and the socks don't go nearly as fast, but i figured i needed some socks other than worsted weight. :)

i love how i'm finishing all of these wintery/cold weather socks just as the weather gets amazing! i swear its in the 70s out there. smells like spring!

canceled flight=more knitting!

i have hands down, the WORST luck with flights. the past 3 times i've flown i've had delayed/canceled flights. ah! today i was supposed to fly back to nyc and my flight was canceled! i'm not sure why, i think it was the weather in ny...it has been pretty stormy there the past week or so. at least i didn't make it all the way to the airport this time! so, if all goes as planned i fly out tomorrow.

no work/traveling today meant a day full of knitting! woooowoooooo :) i'm working on my second tweed cascade sock and i am LOVING this yarn. it's so rustic and earthy, i want more! i also cast-on for a less conventional project....i'm making over the knee legwarmer thingies in some sport weight baby yarn.

i don't normally knit with baby yarn, but i really liked the bright colors. i thought i'd mix it up! i'm not sure if i'm liking how it is knitting up....we shall see!

all of this knitting has made me feel kind of lazy. i'm excited to get back to the city and get my yoga on and dare i say.....walk around. ah! normally i'm complaining about all the walking i have to do in the city, but i miss it! i need to get my butt moving. :)

for these socks, i used my inros and kabukis as a jumping off point. in other words, i pretty much just cast-on what those patterns called for and knit in plain stockinette the whole way! :) easy peasy. i cast-on 42 stitches and after 3 inches decreased to 40 stitches. super fast, super easy.

i got a gift card to the yarn store here in lincoln, and found out that i only had a couple hours to go use it! (they are closed on sundays and i leave on monday!) so i hightailed it over there, nothing like 'having' to spend money at a yarn store. i could have been there forever, i kept picking up things and putting back...i just couldn't decide!

i eventually settled on two different sock yarns and some tweed cascade. i only went over my gift card by 48 cents, not bad! i had my eye on this super bright yellow sock yarn for a while, so i figured it had to be mine! i'm sensing a pattern here with the crazy neon yellow....i love it! also got some misti alpaca sock yarn, soooooooo squishy soft and then some nice rustic tweed cascade (which will probably also be socks).

this has been a very productive week in terms of my knitting, i think i cast-off 3 different projects....wha! that's crazy. nothing like getting away from the craziness of the city to get some quality knitting done. :) i head back tomorrow, and i must say, i miss it! i heard it has been raining like crazy though....definitely glad i missed that.

when i get back it is going to be right back into the craziness, i have lots of work to catch up on, class to take and an apartment to find! i'm moving in with a dear, dear friend of mine, and we have until april 1st to get a place. ah!!! nothing like trying to find an apartment in nyc to get your heart going. but the idea of living with a friend is so exciting, its been a long time coming. i finally feel like i'll be living in my own house instead of someone else's! can't wait.

more socks! i'm on a roll. i knit most of the second one at knitting group. :) aaaaaaaaaaah, knitting group. it was so nice to see all my lovely friends. i wish i could bring them to ny with me!

these socks are definitely nice and cozy. i kind of wish they were a bit longer, and i think the pattern gets a little lost, like it was more complicated then it needed to be. i really want to make my own sock patterns, but figuring out stitches per inch and all that business makes my head hurt! i just want a nice pair of worsted weight knee socks, is that so much to ask!

soooooooo, i have this an undying love for stuffed animals. i still sleep with one! and at the ripe old age of 25 (26 tomorrow!) i love them just as much as i did when i was a little one. so when i find these bigs ones, it takes all my willpower to not take it home. i'm also a sucker for animal ear headbands. i recently bought a panda headband at a museum gift shop. these bunny ears will be perfect for easter!

i love me some cozy socks! mainly because they knit up so fast, hehe. i'm really happy with my newest knitting book. especially since i usually buy a knitting and book and never end up knitting anything from it! knitting socks east and west has alot of worsted weight patterns, so it's right up my alley.

i really cut it close with these socks though, look at how much yarn i had left over! i had just enough to kitchener the toe. talk about living on the edge. ;)

i was asked to make this cowl a few months ago, the recipient was very specific about the color they wanted and i could only find it in vanna's choice. usually i am not a big fan of arcylic yarn, but this wasn't so bad to knit with. it is actually kind of squishy soft! and you cannot beat machine washable. a tad bit squeaky when knit with, but i think it turned out pretty nicely! if i do say so myself.

on a very exciting note....i'm going to knitting group tonight! ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i'm so happy. i'm visiting nebraska for my birthday, a nice little getaway from the craziness of the city/work. it was a bit of a time getting here, my flight was almost canceled due to a problem with the plane and after waiting around for a 3 hour delay they finally said we could board! at that very moment, the power went out at the airport. what the?! how is that even possible? we eventually got on the plane and hightailed it out of nyc. phew! i'm really excited to see all my knitting gals, love them.

i have had my eye on this quilt from anthropologie for quite some time. if their prices weren't sky high i would have gotten it already! so instead, i dream. i'm moving soon (very soon) and would love to do a total overhaul of my room. this would be the perfect place to start if you ask me!

i pretty much love everything in creative thursday's etsy shop. everything is so adorable. i want them all!

i would love to frame these cards and put them up in my new room. aren't they cool???

ahhhhh! when i saw this necklace i fell in love. and it's called the frida necklace, i mean come on. at first it looks like there is maybe a piece of lace or paper between glass but it's actually hand-painted. beautiful!

i need these earrings. i must have these earrings. my hair is so crazy and long, i think the feathers would fit in quite nicely! :) they are a bit on the pricey side....but it's my birthday!!!! hehe

and last but definitely not least, my favorite perfume of all time. stellaaaaaaaaaaaa! i love thee.

i really like these gloves, the yarn looks so much cooler knit up than it did in the skein. i like that the color repeats happen so often, kept the knitting interesting! i made them a bit shorter in the wrist area then the pattern calls for...mainly because i wanted to knit them up fast. i'm so impatient!

in other cold and exciting news...it has been snowing like crazy here! and i think i'm the only one who really loves it. being from michigan, it honestly can't get cold enough for me. here is a picture of the winter wonderland from my room....

the lovely and talented ashleigh asked that i make her this hat, i love that she wanted the super bright highlighter yellow. anyone who can wear dayglo is ok in my book! i have this pattern memorized by now, if i really sit down and get going i can pretty much finish one in a day. now that's skill! ;)

i've had a few other requests from teachers for similar hats, so i am definitely keeping busy in terms of knitting for others. it hasn't really left alot of time to knit anything for myself. i really want to cast on some cozy worsted weight socks (mainly because i know they will knit up really fast.) i should probably get going on those, because the weather is only going to get warmer....ahhh!!!!!!

i'm not even going to go into how i haven't posted in FOREVER. countless hats have been knit since then, and not much else! :)

last night to mix it up i cast-on for some toast...here is the beautiful betty helping model them (aka wondering what the heck i put next to her.)

i must say, i love the mindlessness of stockinette stitch. some might think it's a bit boring, but i honestly loving just being able to zone out, and it's helped me perfect the art of knitting without looking! hehe. i finished that glove and about half of the other one since last night, not baaaaaad.

secret santa

last night i had a secret santa xmas shindig with some friends from work. i love secret santas, but i'm so bad at keeping my person a secret! somehow, this time i managed to do it. and i had the lovely and talented danielle. she seemed to like my gift, fingerless gloves i knit her, cookies and a cool om thingy she can hang on her wall!

and its not officially a party with yoga friends until someone is upside down...wine and all...

not that i don't love a good scarf....but why do they take forever to make?! ahhhhhhhhhhhh. i would take a cowl any day of the week. but alas, a friend of mine requested a scarf (he's a boy) and i think this is quite masculine looking, no?!

i feel like i've been working on it forever and it's only half done...and i ran out of yarn! boo. i think this is going to have to be a post-xmas project. i just have too much to cast-on in the next few days, i shouldn't even be online! gotta go! here's a preview....

well, hellooooooo. i haven't been able to post because i've been knitting hat, after hat, after hat. i've pretty much become a hat machine these days! i can't believe how many people love this hat. i kind of want to steer them in another direction, because before this i never really knit a pattern more than twice. and i think i'm going on about 15! ah! but it's nice having such a good response. :)

this of course has meant NO xmas knitting. AHH!!!!!! remember that blanket i started for my mom last january because i knew i would procrastinate? yeaaaaaah, it's not really close to done.

i have almost no time left, i think i need to get a plan b. asap.

hat season

i can't believe it's already november! and i can't believe it has been so long since my last post. work has been crazy, as per usual....but actually a little more crazy than normal. i about had a nervous breakdown this week, but that is neither here nor there! the only thing that really keeps me sane is knitting. so i've been knitting like a crazy person (because i am).

i've been on a major hat kick. i'm knitting lots of hats for people at work....here is a picture of my latest creation for danielle! weeeeeeeee!

and here is a birthday cowl for my friend cole....

i'm also trying to sneak in some xmas knitting amongst my many hats and things.

it's finally getting cold out....i couldn't be happier. the more knitting on me the better! oh yes.

friday night

this is what my exciting friday night looked like. i had a doozy of a time at work today and couldn't really manage to do anything but knit, eat peanut butter cap'n crunch and watch pirates of the caribbean. i love using scrap yarn for projects! i love how it turns out, even though it doesn't really make a dent in the scrap yarn...

hopefully the rest of this weekend is a bit more eventful. ;)

my hat has found a home! this is my lovely coworker karen, i was showing her my hat and she really liked it! so it is now her's. :)
for about two months the doorman at work asked me if i had a twin, and i was convinced he was just cuckoo and kept seeing me thinking i was different people....and he was getting karen and i mixed-up! i think that is such a compliment, i mean look at the that cutie! ;)
another person at work requested the same hat in a different color, i see a trend here....and i like it.

long time no see! i was finally able to pick my needles back up. i can't believe how much time passed without knitting, i won't let that happen again! i can't believe it's finally fall-ish outside, i am loooooving it. time to bust out the hats and mitts! this hat was easy peasy, although it's pretty bright i'm not sure i can pull it off. here's hoping!

i have much knitting to catch-up on. work has really been keeping me busy, i feel like i was pretty much living at the studio, but i think i'm starting to get a grip on my work and really feel comfortable in my new position. :) yay.

the highline

today i finally made it to the highline with some friends and a friends little one, and it was really nice! it's kind of this bridge/garden/little getaway above the streets of nyc. it's right by the water so there was a really nice breeze and it didn't feel like the 100 degrees it did below. :)

insomnia knitting

i've been having a really hard time sleeping lately. i think it's a combination of the heat and lots of things on my mind. :( boo. i've never had trouble sleeping, and now it freaks me out that if i wake up in the middle of the night, i'm up for at least 2 hours.

i tried to knit a bit, until my hands got too hot! but it did make me feel better. oooh swellllllllls.
