it's official

so i've been putting off buying my one-way plane ticket to nyc because that just makes it so official. but i think i've let enough time pass, and i just had to do it. so i went to buy two different tickets and by the time i got to the end to purchase, they were gone! yikes!!!!!!! that made me nervous and i bought the next thing that i saw...a flight at 5am with two layovers totalling 6 hours! ahgeez, i'm not the brightest bulb. but at least i got a ticket. oh man, i'm really starting to stress out about this, so much so that knitting doesn't even help. :(

horizontal knitting

this weekend the bf and i have been dog-sitting for his parents, and you know what that means.....cable! i'm such a tv junkie, through and through. i haven't had cable in about 2 or 3 years, and people hear this and say 'i bet you don't even miss it! good for you!' to which i think, i miss it more than ever!!!!!!!!! and i will be getting it asap. although, i'm not really sure when asap is. it seems that every place i move into doesn't have it, and i'm too lazy to get it hooked up myself. boo.

i had knitting group yesterday and cast-on for what i think will be my first xmas scarf. the pattern is so-so, not really interesting enough for all the trouble it is. ;) but i still knit on!!!

better late than never

i don't think i have ever sent something off in the mail on time, ever! in my entire life! this is a habit i really need to break. i joined a friendship bracelet swap on ravelry and we had a month to get our bracelets made and sent off by may 1. and not to outdo myself, i sent mine off today! one day late isn't so bad though, right? :)

we were supposed to make those classic friendship bracelets from back in the day, the ones made with floss (you know which i'm talkin' about!) but i tried and failed at those. :( boo. so i decided to do a knitted version, and i really like them! they are so springy, this pretty much makes them 'one size fits all', which i love.

my partner said she likes jewel tones so i found some colinette and blue moon in my stash that i thought would be perfect. i didn't want to send them off actually! ;) i think i'm going to whip some up for myself, i love the idea of having like 20 on at a time. a sleeve of knitted bracelets! ooooh yeeeeah.

spring ftw!

i finally got around to having my latest f.o photo shoot, whatwhaaaaaaat! i got a bit distracted though, my bf was 'working' (aka peeking) under his car and wanted me to be on the lookout in case it fell?! what the?! how about you don't get under it if you think it might fall?
anywhos, back to the knitting. i'm in LOVE with this scarf/shawl, it is so soft and just the right size. i also love the kind of cowboy style kerchief. the socks are also really cozy and they actually stay up! and sit back for the photo bonanza!!!!!

business & pleasure

does getting something a little wet and laying it out count as blocking? if so, i'm blocking at work! oh snap. i finished my 'textured shawl' from the oh so popular 'textured shawl recipe', it was a fast, easy (kinda) knit. i only say kinda because i get so turned around when the directions aren't laid out word for word. *sigh* i need my hand held through most patterns. ;) here is a sneak peek, better pics and details to come later!

so soon

this isn't a knitting post so much as it's a omgimmovinginamonth post. aaahhhhh! so in exactly one month i will be returning to nyc. i've been living in lincoln, ne for a little under a year, i moved here because i was so sick of the city and lincoln is where my boyfriend is from. the best way i can describe it is nyc was this irritating friend/boyfriend that after 6 years i had just had enough of. so loud, rude, dirty, takes all my money....but now i am crawling back. nyc, please take me back?! i made a mistake! we needed that break to really see that what we had was special.

while i am so excited to get back, i'm also really sad to leave lincoln. my boyfriend won't be moving with me when i do, probably a few months after. we've done long distance before, but it is just the worst thing ever. and i have become increasingly emotional over the years, so i fear for the breakdown i will probably have on the plane from ne to nyc. i've even had friends volunteer to fly over just to go back with me...they know my nuttiness. another reason why i love them! i've also met some lovely ladies here by joining my first knitting group! i feel very lucky to have met them.

i'm so excited to get back to nyc for all the same reasons i was ready to leave it. i miss the crazies, the walking, the weather, everything! even the subway....kinda. i don't have a job lined up quite yet (yikes!) but i will be returning part-time to the yoga studio i worked at before i left. i miss my yoga peeps so much. i can't even!!! i know i'll miss alot about being here, there is just a normal way of life here that you NEVER get in the city. and while i think that is what i want eventually, right now i feel like i need the energy of the city. i feel like i just learn so much living there, just walking down the street.

i'm just so scared that the transition will be really hard. i don't take change well at all, and yet i feel like it's all i do, movemovemove changechangechange. ooooh well. gotta do it while i'm young(ish)!

jazz hands!

oh how i love armwarmers. they are super fast, easy and i know i'll use them, well probably use them. this was an interesting pattern because they were knit flat, i think next time (there will be a next time) i'll knit them in the round. but it was nice to practice my mattress stitch! i think this is the first time i actually got the hang of it, and i love it! now i just wanna seamseamseam.

i dyed the yarn myself, and this particular yarn base i've found takes color really lightly. everything is kind of pastely, which i don't hate. i'm thinking these will be a gift, for who, i'm not sure! :)

i'm going to try and make my f.o's more organized!
